2008 WORKSHOP: C. GAVIN JONES
Oaxaca, Mexico, is a colorful and vibrant town that captures the soul and culture of Mexico. But beyond the colorful town square and relaxed pace of life exist broader issues of drug abuse, poverty, neglect, and suffering. Children often bear the brunt of these challenges. Many are abandoned by parents who struggle under a faltering economy, succumb to drug addiction, or die prematurely as a consequence of a harsh lifestyle not visible to outsiders. These orphans now struggle to overcome the formidable challenges dictated by their rough beginnings.
